Tennis: Isner ends Hewitt's Revival Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt’s quest to win his first ATP tournament in more than two years came to an end when he was beaten by John Isner in the final of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships. The top seed was the heavy favourite in the tennis betting leading up to the clash given he triumphed at the tournament last year. He successfully defended the title he clinched 12 months ago in style by comfortably beating Hewitt 7-6 6-4 in Newport. “But I gained a lot of confidence from this week just as I did last year. I had a great, great summer last year. I hope to have much of the same this year.” Australian Hewitt, who went into the tournament ranked 233 in the world after being sidelined for four months following toe surgery, has risen 83 places to 150 as a result of his successful week at Newport. The 31-year-old has won 28 singles titles during his career, including the 2001 US Open and the Wimbledon title a decade ago. Cilic became the first home winner of the tournament since 1990 but started the final badly, and trailed 4-2 to the Spaniard in the first set before winning nine games in a row. His US Open Tennis odds have now gone in on the back of his recent performances.
